Open Role-Play - Mission in the Land of Lightning

Megumi took Neji's hand and wrapped her free arm around his as they walked through the forest towards the edge of the border of the Land of Lightning. It was cold here, and she snuggled against him. While she herself had no problem with the cold, she was worried about Neji. Even though he often thought of this as overprotective.
"Are you all right?" Neji asked her as they walked, giving her a questioning look.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She assured him as he pressed his lips against her forehead. "Where were we supposed to meet the Cloud shinobi?"
Neji held her tightly against him as they continued.
"Not long now." He promised her. "He should be waiting for us."

Lightning saw the two shinobi coming and took a step back in preparation, getting into a fighting stance. These people weren't lightning ninja. They were a threat, and they had to be stopped before they attacked the village. With an angry cry he jumped out of hiding and launched himself at the two shinobi.

Megumi's eyes widened as the shinobi launched himself out of hiding and was suddenly flying towards them, his arm pulled back ready to punch them. She ignored Neji when he told her to wait, instead throwing herself forward and grabbing the other shinobi's clenched fist as he tried to hit her. She twisted under the blow and her elbow found his stomach, sending him stumbling back a few feet.

Lightning grunted as he was driven back a little, and jumped back again so that he could reappraise his opponents from a safer distance. He looked the two up and down. The redheaded kunoichi looked like she was ready to pummel him into the ground if he tried to attack them again. The brunette boy behind her was looking a little exasperated by his female teammate's violent actions. Lightning took a deep breath as he put his hands together in a hand sign.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!" He yelled.

Megumi narrowed her eyes and looked around as the copies of the cloud shinobi appeared around them. She could hear Neji muttering something behind her, probably saying something to her, but she wasn't listening to him. Which was probably a bad idea, considering he would be able to tell which of the clones was the real one. She slipped into a crouch, looking around at the clones that surrounded them, remembering her fights with Naruto as she tried to come up with a strategy, and waited for them to make the first move. That might give her an inkling of which one was the real one.
